Lower Livestock Outlook

We seem to be killing more than enough cattle now, much heavier cattle and the amount of beef coming out of the packers is so much, boxed beef has been steadily falling. 252 loads of beef were moved on Thursday on a down market with Top Primal Cuts, Rib Sections and Loins down the most.

Individual pork cuts are volatile but if you notice, the 5 day average on the pork cut hasn’t been changing much. Why. Processors are taking the entire carcass. At this time consumers are buying big pork chops or 16 to 20 pound smoked hams. They are buying what they can afford and what stretches their dollar.
