What Direction Will Livestock Take

Tuesday it is hard to say what will happen to livestock futures with Russian going into Ukraine. President Biden is expected to talk about the situation and place the beginning sanctions on Russia.

Beef export net sales were 23,000, and that is a good number.  South Korea was biggest buyer with Japan following  China only took 600MT and cancelled 1100MT.

Packers adjusted last Friday kill dropping weekly kill down to 2,498,000.  US sells very little pork into Europe or eastern Europe.  For 2021 the US Meat Export Federation doesn’t even list Russia or Ukraine as buyers.  Russia and Ukraine in 2021 did increase their own hog numbers with Russia and Ukraine both exporting pork to mainly China and likely will continue with the Russia and Chinese agreement to continue sending it if hostilities were to break out.
