Packers did pay up for cattle this week during the first week of contracting. Often they have enough at least the first week of a new month. Paying more suggests they need cattle.

As of Friday, August 7th the pork carcass cut has definitely improved over a week ago. The carcass is up $6.62, Loins up $3.60 and hams the big driver of the up move are up $9.81. Bellies also were stronger up $12.22.
